Charles ‘Bryan’ Daugherty is a proud native of West Virginia; raised in West Union, Bryan currently teaches at Ritchie County High School in Ellenboro and resides nearby in Harrisville. As a Bonner Scholar at West Virginia Wesleyan College, Bryan spent his four years studying Secondary Education (specializing in social studies) and actively volunteering as a tutor and basketball coach at the Stockert Youth Center in Buckhannon. After graduating in 2004 and spending one year as a substitute teacher in various West Virginia counties, Bryan was hired as a full-time teacher of 7th grade social studies at Ritchie County Middle School. After two years of teaching at RCMS, Bryan jumped at the opportunity to teach at the high school level. At Ritchie County High School, he teaches primarily Civics/Government, and those most daring to be challenged take his course of AP U.S. Government & Politics. From year to year, he has also taught courses in World History, Contemporary World Issues, 20th/21st Century, and Geography to name a few. Additionally, Bryan serves as a member of the RCHS scholarship committee for the Parkersburg Area Community Foundation (PACF) as well as the faculty’s hiring committee. Bryan is finishing up another season as Assistant Boys’ Basketball Coach (JV Coach) after 6 seasons in that post as well as previous stints as Assistant Coach in charge of the Freshmen Team (2 years), and Head Boys’ Basketball Coach at Ritchie County Middle School (4 years). In August of 2011, Bryan completed a Master’s of Arts degree in Instructional Communications through West Virginia University . Bryan is a keen observer of local, state, and national politics as well as an avid sports fan of the Steelers, Pirates, and Mountaineers. He especially enjoys cheering for his players/students in various sports as Ritchie Rebels and a number of his former students at various colleges and levels in and around West Virginia. He also enjoys swimming, traveling, and watching movies.
