As Development Director of the Alzheimer’s Association, West Virginia Chapter, Laurel oversees the Association’s public relations and fundraising efforts across the state. Laurel works to promote concern and awareness of the disease and for the cause as well as helps to ensure the financial viability of the organization. After graduating from Mississippi State University, Laurel returned to West Virginia to serve as a VISTA volunteer for the National Service Programs of the United Way of Central West Virginia. As a VISTA she worked to promote national service opportunities through AmeriCoprs, AmeriCorps*VISTA and SeniorCorps. After her year of service she joined the Alzheimer’s Association, West Virginia Chapter as the Communication Coordinator and was later promoted to Development Director. She currently serves as the Regional Coordinator for Leave a Legacy of Central Appalachia, co-hosts “Women’s Perspective” on the West Virginia Library Commission Network, and volunteers as a track and field official. Laurel is an avid runner and outdoorswoman. She enjoys West Virginia’s beautiful summer months hiking and fishing with friends and family. Laurel has been a lifelong Mississippi State Bulldog fan and cheers them on through football, basketball and baseball season. She currently resides in Charleston.
